Eine andere Welt ist möglich UN stimmt für die Aufhebung des US Embargos gegen Kuba
Die UNGeneralversammlung hat am Donnerstag den kubanischen Antrag, der ein Ende der USBlockade gegen Kuba fordert, mit 185 gegen zwei Stimmen angenommen. Aus diesem Anlass versammelten sich Dutzende von Studenten an der Universität von Havanna. Das Embargo gegen Kuba ist ein Handels, Wirtschafts und Finanzembargo, das die Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika nach der CastroRevolution gegen Kuba verhängt haben. Der ehemalige USPräsident Barack Obama hatte 2015 angekündigt, es beenden zu wollen, was jedoch von den Republikanern vereitelt wurde. Anfang 2021 setzten die Vereinigten Staaten Kuba auf die Liste der Länder, die als Sponsoren des Terrorismus gelten. Die Resolution vom Donnerstag ist die 30. in Folge, in der die Mehrheit der Staaten die Aufhebung des USEmbargos gegen Kuba fordert. Die am längsten andauernden Sanktionen, die je gegen ein Land verhängt wurden, sind jedoch weiterhin in Kraft seit über 60 Jahren. Mehr auf unserer Webseite:
