J. S. Bach: Cello Suite No. 1 in G major ( Johnny Gandelsman, violin), Met Live Arts
In 2023, violinist Johnny Gandelsman realized a longtime dream: performing J. S. Bachs six Sonatas and Partitas for solo violin, plus novel arrangements of the composers six cello suites, over a weeklong residency at The Met Cloisters. Through four consecutive nights in the resplendent Fuentidueña Chapel, Gandelsman paved a memorable journey through the behemoth pieces, infusing his own, folkrooted voice through what he considers some of Bachs most personal and joyful works. 0:10 Prelude 2:11 Allemande 5:12 Courante 7:34 Sarabande 9:54 Minuets I II 12:47 Gigue Johnny Gandelsman, violin Recorded on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, in Fuentidueña Chapel at The Met Cloisters.
