Lucky Jordan is a 1942 film directed by Frank Tuttle and starring Alan Ladd in his first leading role, Helen Walker in her film debut and Sheldon Leonard. The screenplay concerns a selfcentered gangster who tangles with Nazi spies. Plot Lucky Jordan (Alan Ladd) is gangster living in New York City. When he s drafted into the army, he tries to escape duty by using an old con woman named Annie (Mabel Paige) to convince the draft board he s needed at home. When that fails, Jordan is sent to boot camp, but he doesn t stay long. He takes a beautiful USO worker (Helen Walker) hostage and flees back to New York. There, he learns that a rival gangster (Sheldon Leonard) is plotting against America.
