Death at Burning Man festival as rain turns desert to mud
A festivalgoer has died at Burning Man, where heavy rain has turned the vast site in Nevadas Black Rock Desert to sludge. More than 70, 000 attendees, or Burners, have been told to stay put and conserve food and water. They are trapped in the temporary city that springs up every year for a celebration of selfexpression and selfreliance. It was unclear whether a ceremonial burning of a large wooden effigy would go ahead as planned, nor when Burners would be able to leave, with more rain forecast.
