Cherry Poppin Daddies Lowdown Appreciator Official Music Video
The Cherry Poppin Daddies new single Lowdown Appreciator is available now: Video by Interiorstate I wrote Lowdown Appreciator as an exercise in working with stand up, acoustic, slap bass. That is the bass sound most associated with Rockabilly, it s the sound of Elvis on his Sun session Hillbilly recordings, but a lot of early jazz players also utilized the slapping of the gut strings on the fretboard as a rhythmic element. The lyrics were inspired by my wife, Cherry Perry, and myself and our shared love of vintage shopping. So I imagined us driving around in a Cadillac hearse perusing flea markets and antique shops, while the main character, me, I guess, has this inner monologue showing that he is getting increasingly turned on and heated up by his girl as she snaps her gum and prances around in high heels and Capri pants. The lyrics equate the gut bucket, slap bass sound
