IS 2 vs SUPER PERSHING, 122mm BR 471 B Spaced Armour Piercing Simulation
The Super Pershing was an upgunned and uparmoured variant of the American M26 Pershing during WW2. It s overlapping boiler plates and hull armour were designed to combat the 88mm Tiger II, but how would it fair against a larger, heavier round, with increased sloped armour penetration, such as the 122mm BR471B The BR471B round could perforate the Panther s upper plate at well over 1km, and was generally more effective against sloped armour than the 88mm due to its blunt nose and increased mass. The simulation presents an interesting result as the 122mm round performed far worse than the 88mm one shown previously: While the blunt nose reduces the turning away from the plate effect when striking a plate, it hinders the turning towards the plate effect when perforating the back of the plate (evident in the linked video). This isnt an issue when its only a single plate, b
