The ProtoIndoEuropeans were the speakers of the ProtoIndoEuropean language (PIE), an unattested but now reconstructed prehistoric language. Knowledge of them comes chiefly from the linguistic reconstruction, along with material evidence from archaeology and archaeogenetics.
