THE CUTTLE FISH The Great Book of Nature EN
The bear summons all the animals to tell them a story about a cuttlefish. Female Doctor Cuttlefish, the cousin of a squid, lives in a village on the sea floor, treating all the fish that need help, asking nothing in return. One day, she heals a small sprat that has been attacked by a catfish and the patients mother gives her a mirror. The catfish has also been iniured and he sends his crony to the doctors office with a magnificent gift in exchange for a miracle medicine. Flattered by so many gifts, the Cuttlefish starts to offer her services only in return for precious gifts and, in so doing, falls into the trap of the catfish, which locks her up. In actuality, the catfish wants to eat the cuttlefish and steal her medicines so that all the fish that need medical treatment will have to pay him. Fortunately, the fish community comes to the rescue, and the Cuttlefish then realizes that having lots of good friends is worth much more than any gift, no matter how precious it may be.
