Cheating The Mud Spots (1926)
Intertitle reads: With so much silkclad ankle about nowadays, one can hardly blame the mud spots for clinging to Eve s stockings. But, here s a novel little rubber protector which baffles em. C, U of woman in hat and fur trimmed coat taking two rubber items from a wrapper. She bends down and there is a C, U of her leg, her foot is on a table. She proceeds to button the rubber stocking protectors around her leg. She lifts her skirts and looks down at both legs. C, U of her feet and calves wearing the protectors whilst standing on a very muddy road. Woman turns and walks down a very muddy street with cars racing by. (May be Buckingham Palace in the background). (There is no pavement). Was item in Eve s Film Review issue 249. Note: as can be seen from this film, in the 1920s streets could be very muddy (when was the pavement invented ).
