Girl Guides (1969)
East Grinstead, Sussex. Nice footage of a group of girl guides walking along a suburban street. They wear great mini skirted outfits. Narrator observes how modern the guides are these days. On an adventure holiday the girls rock climb, paddle in canoes and cook food in the open air. The camp is based at Blacklands Farm in Sussex. The girls use all kinds of ingenious methods to cook their food. They cook an egg on a safety pin and boil fish in a wet bag. They also smoke fish over a campfire and cook peas in a grapefruit shell. Chocolate and meringue (looks more like marshmallow to me) inside a banana skin is the Guide s own mouthwatering variation on a banana split states the narrator. Potatoes are wrapped in tin foil and put on the fire. Sequence showing some of the guides canoeing on a river. Gang Show sequence. Guides and scouts are seen arriving at the Odeon cinema in Golders Green, seems as though it is the first time that girls have been allowed to appear in the Gang Show. Narr
