The film was inspired by the memoir TRAVELLING TO INFINITY: MY LIFE WITH STEPHEN by Jane Hawking, which deals with her relationship with her exhusband theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking, his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and his success in physics.
