About the author: Hieromonk Roman (Alexander Matushin) was born in 1954 in the family of village schoolmistress. He began his studies at the university and after graduation worked as a school teacher. In the 1983 he took monastic vows and in 1985 was ordained as a hieromonk (a monk who is also a priest). He was a parish priest in the Pskov eparchy. At present he lives outside the staff in seclusion in Vetrovo place.
