Short Writing Activity for Social Understanding and Emotional Cues
Language and communication classes are really a unique setting to develop interpersonal skills Take a look at this engaging writing activity I use to work on emotional cues There are 3 examples in the video and 1 in this text below 1 Students first take a look at the context of the message they are going to write In this video, I introduce 3 of these 2 Students brainstorm ideas on how to structure their message and what information they wish to include 3 Students then consider 2 or 3 various emotional contexts and brainstorm how these might influence their writing (formality, tone, familiarity, etc. ) 4 Students write their short notes You can follow that up with either 5 Having students guess which emotional contexts matched each others writings or 6 Having students reply to each others short notes For example: Short Note, 1: An apology to your neighbor for not being able to come to their party.
