A high school English competition promising a trip to London for the finalists provides hope for Raya to escape the desperate situation, but not before a social worker raises an alarm on the youngster s living situation and their grandmother s strange disappearance shortly after Raya finishes in the top three and qualifies for the trip. In his strong debut feature, director Renārs Vimba tackles the delicate theme of comingofage and accepts the challenge of telling the story through the eyes of a young girl.
