So Castle dies in that car crash (6x23) and Beckett takes this loss very badly. First she tries to hold on, but she keeps seeing Rick s ghost talking to her everywhere particularly at the 12th. THe pressure is rising and she goes to see her therapist to help her deal with it. It s not helping at first and she keeps crying every day. It becomes so awful that she resignes from NYPD and moves in with Castle s family because they are the only ones who feel her pain. But with time and treatment she finally comes to terms with her loss, finds the strength to let Castle s ghost go and comes back to the precinct to continue fighting for justice. The sweet memories about her one and only remain though.
