Building the Tamiya 1, 350 Scale IJN Yukikaze destroyer
In this latest 1, 350 scale plastic model ship build, well take on the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) Kagero class destroyerYukikaze. We ll construct, add kit supplied and White Ensign photo etch, airbrush, hand paint, weather, detail, and add rigging to Tamiyas Kit, 78020. This will be the 25th amateur model project for this channel. UPDATE: On March 31, 2021, Caladan Oceanic resurveyed the wreckage field believed to be the USS Johnston (DD557) and confirmed it is indeed the Johnston through new underwater images including the bow which displayed 557. This section lies 21, 180 ft (6456m) below the ocean surface. UPDATE II: In June 2022, the wreck of the destroyer USS Samuel B. Roberts (DE413) was discovered. It was sunk during the same battle as the USS Johnston (DD557). It now holds the current title of deepest shipwreck discovered to date. The Samuel B. Roberts lies at a depth of 22, 621 ft (6, 895 meters) surpassing the USS Johnston by by 1, 441 feet (439m).
