Field Marshal French Opens Baths AKA Viscount French (1914 1918)
Bath, Somerset. Field Marshal Sir John French officially opens new swimming baths at (of course) Bath. Opens with shot of Viscount French; along with Lord Mayor of Bath; and a dignitary with a powdered wig meeting on stairs. Man in robes holding giant ancient sword stands behind. French shakes hands with man in wig; then turns; talks to someone off screen. French other army officers reviewing troops who are standing in city street. Nice shot looking down street; automobiles parked on side; a few pedestrians. French gets out of car; walks past several army men greeting him; salutes. Shot of a strange looking procession coming out of big stone building which is the Bath Royal Baths: the man with the big hat and the big sword held vertically; followed by two guys in admiral sort of hats carrying shiny sceptre type objects over their shoulders; the Lord Mayor; then Viscount French; a lady in furs and some more army men.
