Firsts: First year teacher, first year students, first day of school

Lakeysha Moore had worked as a teacher assistant with LCPS for nine years and before that, she worked in day care; but on Monday, Aug. 24, she was a firstyear teacher facing firstyear students on their first day of school. Because kindergarten enrollment is staggered, with about a third of each class starting school on successive days, Ms. Moore actually went through three first days at Banks Elementary. This is the first Day 1.
