Phil Lewis of LA Guns joined me for a talk about the band s new album, Checkered Past, his upbringing amidst London s 1970s rock scene (encountering people like Razzle of Hanoi Rocks), his early bands Girl and Torme, joining LA Guns during the height of the Sunset Strip s power, having the band s success stalled by personal behavior (including an affair between Kelly Nickels and Motley Crue singer Vince Neil s wife) and grunge, (only to see his daughter become dear friends with Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love s daughter Frances Bean ), getting a day job and reigniting his music career.
