M, S of a posh looking woman standing on a platform next to the hull of the ship, with the help of two gentlemen she pushes a swing that smashes a champagne bottle against the ship. One of the gentlemen holds a chisel up to the hull, the posh lady hits the chisel with a small mallet; somehow this releases ship and we see it slide slowly down the slipway. L, S of the ship sliding down the slipway towards the sea, crowds of dock workers standing beside the slipway cheering and waving their hats in the air. High angled L, S of a large crowd on the dockside, they wave there hats and give three cheers. Note: presumably the launch ceremony was broadcast on the wireless this is not shown in the actual item.
