Israel s Supreme Court rules ultra Orthodox men must be drafted into military

Israels Supreme Court has ruled that the army must draft the countrys ultraOrthodox Jews. The ruling could split Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahus coalition government. UltraOrthodox parties are part of Netanyahus ruling coalition and without them the government will collapse leading to new elections. The court said Israels compulsory military service applies to the ultraOrthodox like other citizens. Omar Ashour s a security and military studies professor with the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. He says Israel s army will welcome the court s decision.
