Gus Elen (1932)
Titles read: Now Pathetone presents the celebrated Coster Comedian Gus Elen in The Postman s London (probably Pathe Studio). Various shots of comedian Gus Elen dressed as a postman and singing, in a cockney voice, about a day out he had with his wife and half a dozen kids, which they spent travelling all over London. This is quite good as cockney acts go, although the opening line is considered very offensive today I work just like a . (Followed by Pathetone end titles. ) Note: there seems to be some confusion in paperwork as to what the title of the song is I think it the song is A Nice Quiet Day and the act is called The Postman s Holiday.
