Sweaty Palms
years in the Cave Verevkina at a depth of 2100 meters from the surface. Cavers from Russian team Perovo Speleo were in a difficult situation. The cave was flooded. With every hour water became more and more. We knew that the cave horizons below 2000 meters were flooded, but we believed that it could be possible only if the snow melts on the surface and heavy rain falls. According to our data, from February to September 2018, the Verevkina cave near the camp 2100 was not flooded, despite the spring floods and catastrophic rains in the Caucasus region in June and July. Therefore, we did not believe in the possibility of flooding the camp until the water began to penetrate from all the cracks. We had no more than 10 minutes to retreat. we managed to collect some things and climb the canopy to the upper horizons of the cave at the last moment Our group of 8 people, including two Englishmen Robbie Shone and Jeff Wade survived thanks to concerted action and experience.
