Bye (1990) Ed van der Elsken

When Ed van der Elsken hears he has terminal prostate cancer, he only knows of one way to endure the coming agony: counterbalance his approaching death by making it tangible and using it as the objective of his work. The film Bye is a selfportrait, i. e. that the sick main character and the filmmaker are one and the same. The film ends a few months before his death.
