First Listen to MUDVAYNE Death Blooms, Bass Teacher REACTS to Ryan Martinies Beautiful Grooves
JOIN ME ON PATREON: After analyzing DIG by Mudvayne, I checked out Ryan s current band SoftenTheGlare shortly after. Coming back to experience Death Blooms for the first time gave me a LOT of perspective on his playing when returning to a Mudvayne song. I really, really appreciate how he can cut through even the densest of mixes (and compositions) with lyrical bass lines that REALLY elevate the song. In this video, I check out Death Blooms from the band s debut album 50 and am pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the chorus is. I wasn t aware Mudvayne had a softer, melodic side. I discuss Ryan s signature Warwick Thumb bass tone (and use my own Warwick to demonstrate), his perfect use of slap pop accents alongside the drum parts, his widerange of moving bass lines (which are just as catchy as the vocals in the chorus),
