Giant Girder (1914 1918)
Giant girder. Location of events unknown. Transporting a giant steel girder down street. Shot of this long metal thing with bolts in it; mounted on top of 2 different wheeled platforms; ropes stretching from front; pulling it. A bunch of men in street; both workers; and more supervisor types. CU pan on girder. CU team of horses walk toward camera; pulling the ropes hooked to the girder. Front of girder moves to rt. ; trying to make it round a corner. Steering this thing can t be easy. CU as it passes by on left GV looking from side of river: a bridge was once there; now only pedestrian walkway on part of it bridge destroyed. Pan left showing this girder now s Stretching across cement supports in river; to become part of new bridge. Pan on across river more of the girders; etc. Engineering.
