Little Bear G3 Valve Overdrive

The Little Bear G3 Valve Overdrive is the refined (and boxed) older brother of the G1 model. It s still very inexpensive, but now comes in a sturdy metal case that you won t be afraid to take on stage with you. The circuit seems very similar to the G1 but is reigned in slightly, stopping short of the amp on fire settings but giving a much more stable range of drive across all settings. Like the G1, the G3 comes stock with a Chinese 6n4 valve, which while being suitably angry, does suffer from a slightly congested midrange, luckily, as is the case with the G1, you can easily swap this out for a 12AX7 or similar, which opens up the sound nicely. Gear used: Fender MIM Strat (Seymour Duncan JB Jr in the bridge, Lace Sensor Blue in the neck, Middle is stock), into the G1, into a Laney VC30 2x12, mic d with a SE Electronics R1.
