Bottled Lightning (1928)
No title. Story about giant electrical transformers. Picture quality is very poor. M, S of a man at work suspended by a chain tapping the end of a piece of machinery (presumably a transformer). Dissolve into a high angle of the electricity plant. Good dolly shot moving across the roof of the plant looking down. C, U of hand holding a piece of equipment. This shot is badly decomposed and may be removed and junked. In our highly insulated big friend, 60 miles of wire transform 6, 600 volts input into a peak pressure of 1, 500, 00 volts (Which almost reproduces the effects of lightning on insulators, M, S of two men walking beside huge machinery. And when the peak is reached, with an earsplitting roar 1, 500, 000 volts jump the 10foot spark any other point to C, U of the insulator with large sparks crackling between the top and bottom. Various shots of sparks being produced. Electricity. End of story is decomposing. Was an item in Pathe Pictorial issue number 524.
