Full titles read: Crowning the May Queen Picturesque scenes at annual ceremony at Knutsford, Cheshire. Various shots show a May carnival procession passing through a town; teenagers in costumes carry large pompoms, followed by a brass band. Children in black face tow a large shoe on wheels carrying several more children in white bonnets. A small boy sits in a little car (made from a pram) with a banner over the top reading The KnutsFord . Lines of young girls prance past, tapping tambourines as the crowds lining the street look on. In a field, a young girl in white, the May Queen, walks from a platform, followed by pageboys holding her train and two lesser queens carrying flowers. A large crowd watches from a spectator stand in the background; more people stand around the edges of the field.
