More Than One Hundred Dead as Tropical Cyclone Hit Indonesia and East Timor
Tropical cyclone Seroja hit eastern Indonesia and East Timor on the early hours of Monday, bringing torrential rains, strong wind, mud landslides and killing more than 100 people. The affected area stretches from Flores island in eastern Indonesia to East Timor. Several people are still missing and authorities say the death toll could rise. Rescue operations have been difficult due to collapsed bridges and roads blocked by fallen trees.
