Scenes Of Petrograd (1922)
Scenes from Petrograd. Russia. Small cargo ships moving on almost frozen river. Unloading ship: crane lifts cargo (looks like sacks of grain) out of hold; then men carry away the heavy bags on their backs. (Probably food sent for famine relief. ) Horses pull sleds loaded w, sacks down snowy city street. More sleds carrying barrels approaching cam. Shot of street w, pedestrians crossing in every direction; another sledge passes. MS man w, round wire rim glass fur hat operates handcranked movie camera while others watch. MLS people (mostly children) sit around fire outside; horses stand nearby refugees of some sort . Many pedestrians hurrying down sidewalk w, small shops; snow piled alongside. More people walking on wide street; also another sledge. LS women shovel snow. MLS woman man shovel. Next; a group of young girls (maybe school group ) all climb onto a sleigh really a sled w, doublesided bench down the middle.
