Brandy Looking Glass
Brandy (Youre a Fine Girl) stands as arguably the most important song on Looking Glass selftitled debut album. It reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1972, remaining in that position for a week. Brandy is found throughout popular culture, most notably in the films Lords of Dogtown and the 2000 version of Charlies Angels and recently in the 2017 film Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 where the song was featured as a focal point in the plot. Interestingly, American birth registration data collected from the Social Security Administration illustrates a massive increase of American newborns named Brandy following the songs 1972 release (from 353rd most popular in 71 to 82nd most popular in 73). Recently, the song is a favorite to cover for modern musicians such as Kenny Chesney and the Red Hot Chili Peppers during live performances.
